Emergency Procedures for First Responders
- Identify the vehicle: “ROBOTAXI” markings, roof light if equipped, and no driver.
- Approach safely: Vehicle will attempt Minimal Risk Condition, including pulling over and activating hazards.
- Call the hotline immediately: (832) 400-3010 for live remote operations support.
- Power down: Use the large red emergency stop button inside once doors open, or request remote disable via hotline.
- Occupant access: Doors unlock automatically in Minimal Risk Stop. Two-way audio and interior cameras are available.
Detailed First Responder Actions
Tesla Robotaxi Stop & Incident Procedures (Official Guidance)
Always prioritize Bay Robotaxi hotline (832) 400-3010 and 911 as needed. These steps are adapted from the official Tesla Robotaxi First Responder Interaction Plan v1.3.
Performing a Stop
- Pull up behind the Robotaxi vehicle.
- Turn on your sirens and emergency vehicle lights.
- Stay behind the Robotaxi vehicle as it pulls over and parks. Wait for the vehicle to rapidly flash hazard lights, signifying that Autonomous Mode is disengaged.
- Establish communications with Tesla Robotaxi Support / Bay Robotaxi:
- A. Call Bay Robotaxi hotline at (832) 400-3010 (primary) or Tesla Roadside Assistance at 877-798-3752.
- B. Approach the front “driver” or passenger side window and speak directly via the on-board two-way communication system.
- C. If the on-board system is not connected, touch Support on the front or rear touchscreen to manually initiate two-way communications.
- (If possible) Confirm that SELF-DRIVING does not appear in the top left corner of the front touchscreen.
- Immobilize the vehicle (see High-Voltage Shutdown below).
- (If needed) Move the vehicle. Immobilize again after moving.
Responding to an Incident (e.g., Collision or Safety Event)
- Pull up behind the Robotaxi vehicle.
- Turn on your emergency vehicle lights. Ensure that you see Robotaxi rapidly flash hazard lights, signifying that Autonomous Mode is disengaged.
- Establish communications with Tesla Robotaxi Support / Bay Robotaxi (see steps above).
- (If possible) Confirm that SELF-DRIVING does not appear in the top left corner of the front touchscreen.
- Immobilize the vehicle.
- (If needed) Cut the First Responder Loop to disable the vehicle (see Tesla Rescue Sheet).
- (If needed) Move the vehicle. Immobilize again after moving.
Completing a Stop or Incident
- Remove anything used to immobilize the vehicle.
- Communicate completion of first responder activities to Bay Robotaxi Support via hotline.
- (If needed) Request additional assistance, such as towing and cleanup services.
- Power Down / Disable: Red emergency button or remote disable via hotline.
- High-Voltage Shutdown: Follow the official Tesla Cybercab / Model Y Rescue Sheet.
- Fire: Standard EV protocol. Use a large volume of water. Allow to burn if unsafe to approach.
- Towing: Flatbed only. If inoperable, tow to nearest Tesla service center or Tesla body shop.
- Insurance: Full commercial AV liability coverage. Verify instantly via TexasSure / TLETS using license plate.
